mundane becomes mythic
on drive home
as orange almost round
moon lifts
over prairie horizon
a spring harvest moon
it appears gigantic
suspended through bare branches
this familiar friendly
body beautiful
slowly merging into dark sky
slowly shrinking and whitening
easing into regular almost full moon
in spring sky
but the size of the moon is an
optical illusion
our eyes and minds playing a trick on us
and there are mundane theories
but the mythic settles
