some days are rain
clouds too heavy to drift by
stop and weep wary
of what’s ahead and we stay in
and watch water pool and saturate
wellsprings of hope
for yesterday was drought
and today is flood no
easy middle ground to
tread lightly on for
we have driven our monster trucks on
pathways of care kicking up
dust and mud
