The Ache

dark grey curtains
---------hang over windows
------------------obscuring the view
to the sunshine
and grass
and trees
and flowers

here inside it is a cool mustiness
---------of dizzy smells
------------------and dull pain that Tylenol can’t fix

the off-white walls reflect
the slow music coming
from the radio
and the house fills with an ache of

longing and sadness
